Likely Virtual Wedding

Dear Friends and Family,

Given the current fluctuating state of coronavirus in the country, a large or medium size in-person wedding does not seem feasible.  By far, the most likely option at this point is a virtual wedding from our apartment, Plan C from the previous email.

On Sunday, September 6 (Labor Day Weekend) we will have an interactive, virtual wedding via Zoom.  Due to Massachusetts state ordinances and our concern for everyone's safety, we will restrict the in-person portion to be very small, with only a few close local friends, but we hope you all will be able to attend the virtual Zoom celebration.

It’s still important to us that we get to celebrate with all of you, and we would like to hear from all of you at some point during the zoom event. To that end we plan to have toasts and Schtick to which we encourage all of you to contribute remotely, as well as opportunities for you to chat with us before and after the ceremony.  We are also considering shared experiences such as games, eating dinner together, and all partaking in a signature drink.  More details will follow.

This is a new experience for all of us, and we are sad that right now we all can't meet in person.  However, we hope that through the power of technology we can still celebrate with you virtually.

If you have any questions or concerns, we would love to hear from you.

Love,

Jason and Marla

Contingency Plans

Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you know, due to the coronavirus outbreak, we made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding.  We appreciate all the love and support we have received from you all.

Even though it’s really hard to make plans, we have set a date when we will get married. We have several plans for how to include all of you, but unfortunately, at this point it’s too far out to tell which ones will be feasible. In any situation, regardless of where we get married or who we invite, we are planning on setting up a video streaming option for all of you.

The date: Sunday, September 6th, 2020.

Plan A: Same as the original plan

We already have all our original vendors rebooked for the new date, so if the country somehow gets to a place where the experts are comfortable having us resume normal life, we will resume our wedding with the same plan on September 6. We will have our videographer stream the ceremony for those who are still uncomfortable attending.

Plan B: Medium wedding in NJ

It’s hard to imagine a situation in which the experts are comfortable with travel, but not with large gatherings, but if that’s where we find ourselves, we will have the wedding in New Jersey with a limited in-person guest list.

Plan C: Medium wedding in MA

If travel is not recommended, but small gatherings are ok, we will get married in our apartment with a small and local contingent.

Plan D: Intimate wedding in MA

If, in 3 months, gatherings are still not recommended, we will have a minimal wedding where the only guests are the officiant and ketubah witnesses.

We look forward to a time when we can see you all in person again and celebrate. Thank you all for your love and understanding.

Love,

Marla and Jason

Postponement

Dear Friends and Family,

It is with incredible sadness that we tell you we have decided to postpone our wedding due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In this quickly changing time, it has become clear that large gatherings enable the spread of the virus and that social distancing measures are necessary.  Governments are canceling travel and discouraging gatherings such as ours. We are concerned for both those in attendance and also for the greater social good.  While there is still a lot of developing information, it is clear that we need to act.

If you have a reservation with the hotel, please call them at 973.623.0006 to cancel.

This is an incredibly difficult decision for us, and if you have any thoughts or questions, please reach out.

Once the risks have passed we plan to get married with the same awesome party we had been planning all along.  Sunday, September 6 (Labor Day weekend), is looking like a possibility, assuming the world is in a better state at that point, and we will send out details soon. We look forward to celebrating with you then.

With Love and Sadness,

Marla and Jason
